Gloomy musing

How much do you have to feel depressed so you find yourself, on saturday evening, smoking and silently crying before your window, staring at the mountain so far away, and thinking there isn't a thing that could enjoy you at the moment?

How much, when you can't find a person you can talk with?
Well, I have some friends that really would hear my bad mood and would pat me on my shoulder. They are so nice to me, I know I could speak with some of them, but, hell, it's saturday evening, I can't harass them with my sinking. I have to find something other to cheer me up. A little.
I need just a little little.

I can't hear music, too, because right now all kind of music makes me even more sad.
It's a strange thing, I'd be curious to know if someone feel the same: when I'm sad, just as I am, all kind of music seems sorrowful to me. The same music, If I am cheerful, I can hear it and enjoy it: also the sadder song on this earth.
So, silence now. I don't need something adding my grief.

So, I tried to fix my Livejournal page. Now it's working slightly better, at least you can see all the posts, but it seems it's impossible to add a view-counter to this layout. It doesn't include a space to insert an html code. It worked with the first layout, the orange-blue one, but my mood is too much gloomy and I want only black and grey right now. It was nice to see where were my few readers from.
I had someone from Argentina that almost daily watched my page, and I haven't a clue who he/she is. I'm missing it.
And I can't change the title of my friends page. I don't know why. I wrote the title in the right space but it wouldn't do.

Today I bought a new digital camera. So now in my house you can count five cameras (among reflex and digital).
The new one is very little, quite compact, and I think it could be the one I can always bring with me in my handbag. That was the point of buying it.
So why can't I enjoy it?
I know why, but I can't speak about it.

A book. I think a good novel should cheer me up a little. It always worked for me. I just ended reading "Bet me" by Jennifer Crusie, and it did it. The book was so nice it could divert my attention from my sadness. But now I have to choice a new novel and I am not even able to think about what book I feel like reading.

So, I went to livejournal and settled about harassing the world wide web and using it as a real diary. Hoping no one that knows me in real life will read it, but someone who knows me on the web could read it. Or not. I really don't care at the moment, but so I got to write, and I'm just feeling a little better.
Just a little little.

My life is really a mess.
Maybe this night I'll be hunting for memes, and quizzes, and silly things I can put on my page.

Paros island: really overcrowed.
I know, now, I mustn't go anymore searching for a good beach in august. No.More.
I really suffered the crowd on the beaches, mostly because people there didn't have the minimal sense of good manners.
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. People placing themselves under YOUR beach umbrella, the one you paid for, while you were just 40 inches away. People laying their beach towel almost under your deck chair. People playing "beach-tennis" (I don't know how to call this damn beach game with balls and little wood rackets) just on top of your feet.

Really depressing. But Naoussa, the little town, was very nice and animated, mostly at night.

Besides, I managed eventually having my tattoo photographed (eheh.... it's only one year ago I got it done... LOL).

Now I'm back. I didn't find nothing nice waiting me at home, my back is still aching, next monday I start over working, I feel a sense of void in my heart and in my mind. I'm feeling quite negative indeed.

Aching back and vacations

I don't know why, my back always settles about hurting when it's some holiday eve, or if it is some leaving-for-vacation eve, or if I am really happy because of something.....

Now, I'm going to leave for my vacations in Greece tomorrow, I said TOMORROW, and yesterday I was wholly stuck in my bed because of my hurting back. I could not even get up by myself *big big sob*
I actually sobbed for the sadness and the worry.

Beyond the fact that I risk to spoil others four people's vacations, it's also that it wipe away all the joy, the good emotions, whatever desire or wish or love I could have.

Thanks God I've got a friend orthopaedist that told me to get a cortisone shot, anf thanks God it seems to work, because today I was up and could even start to make my suitcase.

So, crossing my fingers, tomorrow I will leave for Greece, but the travel is quite long (the plane doesn't take off from my town, so I have a night out before we can take the fly) and I'm still worried....

By the way, I started reading The Harlequin by LK Hamilton. I'm up to chapter 17 and unhappily I'm finding it really BORING!
Saving only the chapters with the phone call with Edward, that is right now my new favorite character.

Bah! I hope it will improve after, and it will worth the effort to bring its weight with me on the plane.

(I think I'm quite out of practice writing in english... sorry with all my anglophone friends!)

Post Placebo effect (and a nice meme)

So, last saturday I went to the concert of Placebo in Brescia, Piazza Duomo. YAY!!

It was the third in a year... now I'm thinking of it, it's been almost exactly one year from the first one in Collegno!!

The concert was really short, and they didn't sing some of my favourite songs.... like Post Blue and Space Monkey... *sigh*
But that aside, I was so excited, so enthralled, so out of my mind, the experience was however beautiful for me.

I relished the feeling all the week after :)

I took some photos, but none of them is worth to watch and to post... I'm really sorry, but I think my hands shivered more than the usual...
I had the same problem (hand shivering from emotion) with the little videos I could shoot, but they're however better than the photos, so who's interested can anyway watch them on youtube:

Tuscan Wedding and Rules of Good Photography

So, it's official: I'm not able to take photos of people.

I can't. I try but I'm so not able.... Sorry.

My dear friends C. and F. asked me to take some photos of their wedding, and I did it, really, but I can't say I'm very pleased with the results.

My shots are always.... something a little casual. Clearly I can't concentrate at the same time about the lights, the facial expressions, and also about not cutting feet, noses..... and things alike.
Besides, when I'm wearing a silk dress and four inches heels shoes, I'm not at all feeling like a photographer.

But after the wedding..... when I came back to the farm holidays.... I put on my jeans, went walking through the olive grove and..... OMG, I felt really inspired.
It was almost the sunset, the light was wonderful, the trees were wonderful with their twisted trunks and their green-silver leaves, and so I went with the kind of photos I most love.
They go against the Rules of good photography.
I wave, twist and move my camera, I search the abstract and something like an impressionist painting.
Don't know for sure if the outcome is really worthy, but I'm quite content with it.

The concert was wonderful. Her voice, her music, her passion when she plays her piano...... I really loved it.

The shots aren't very good: I was in a nice position, but the autofocus went blurring with the lights' change, so it can made you a little sick.... But the audio quality is very good :D

And then, I just love having some personal memory of the event. When I review it I can feel again a little bit of the emotions I felt in the theatre.

Southern Comfort & comparing notes

Yep!!

Tonight very very nice girls night out with an old, very dear friend of mine.

We went chatting and drinking to the cooler neighborhood of our city, the "Quadrilatero": the city's older area, full of little nice trendy places.

We basically compared notes about our past.... and we had a whole lot of notes..... *giggle* We have known each other for almost twenty five years, but I don't think we get to this level of confidence before.... (yes, I'm a very secretive person.....)

Then we got to drink a glass of Southern Comfort, and it wasn't bad at all.
I must say, I nearly can't drink, 'cause the alcohol makes me sleep almost instantly, (and then my social life turns really poor) but it was a couple of year I was wondering what the Southern Comfort was about because of Anne Rice.

Did you read the Witching Hour, with the Mayfair witches saga? So, you know what I'm speaking about: Michael is always drinking Southern Comfort in some cool place of New Orleans.... I was with this curiosity since I read the book ;-)
So, if you think I HATE whiskey, instead that thing was really tasty. *giggle*

And then, at home, I found a very funny surprise.... oh, so nice, I laughed out loud for the whole time I was reading it.....

Fiera del Libro - The Fair of Book and old playmates

Yep.
The Internet is a really nice web and I never cease of wondering about how many liaisons is possible to create and resume.

This week the yearly "Fair of books" is going to take place in Turin, so, like every year, I started scanning through the schedule about the day I'll spent into it, rummaging and wandering through books and comics and conferences.

So, I found out the presentation of a new novel, "Quattro passi con la morte" [it would be: "Four steps with the Death"]: that's a noir/horror story, the first book of a new writer, so it instinctively intrigued me, and what did I see?

The author's name.

I knew her name, and she was from my own town.
Her name was of a little girl I used to play with when I was about eight / nine years old. I remember she was a little younger than me - I think at that age the difference is far more noticeable... Likely right now we could think ourselves almost the same age.

To make short a long story: I found her e-mail and I wrote to her and...... She answered me and she's actually my old playmate!!!!

This thing really cheered me up. I really hope I will be able to last within the Fair until nine p.m., so I'll go to the presentation of her book and I will be able to say her hello *cheer*

(and obviously I will read her book ^_^)

Life just a little pinker, today.
I love my physiotherapist. Well, I trust him, and it's not a little thing with a doctor.
Actually I'm still aching, but let's hope next days will be better, little by little.

So, the funny thing is: I'm a shower-kind of girl, but I figured out that a warm bath is such a nice thing when your back is hurting and every move is a pain.
Ahhhh.... if you only have the patience to let the bathtub filling, then you can slightly float, without feeling the force of gravity. It's not like a swim pool :-P but it's better than nothing ^_^

So, I turned the tap water on, poured some drops (quite a good number of drops indeed) of jasmine bath foam in the tub, and went to my bedroom in order to read some pages of Kim Harrison's last book while I was waiting.
*eeekkk* I told you I'm a SHOWER kinda girl!!! I DON'T KNOW how much time my bathtub takes to fill itself. It seems it takes a lot less time than I thought.

Yes. As in the cartoons, I went back in the bathroom and the bubbles were bubbling about 50 cm. over the edge of the tub.
I went into the warm water laughing out loud, and kept laughing a good fifteen minutes..... Suddenly I wasn't so depressed anymore.

I managed to feel slightly Anita Blake-ish, too *LOL* Closing my eyes and thinking about a warm comforting bath after a werewolf went shifting above me ^_^
Unfortunately, there wasn't Jean-Claude in the next room, ready to hand me some towel.... but well, I'm really imaginative *devilish grin*

And fuck the backache. Sunday I bought the tickets for the Placebo's concert.
Let's cross my fingers.

Backache

I'm really depressed.
Today I stayed home because of the backache.
Merde.

How is it, one day I'm so happy and bright and the day after all seems ugly to me? How is it all the nice things are happening in my life went washed away by a bit of pain?

I spent four beautiful days at the sea, mostly daydreaming, strolling with the sun in my eyes and on my face, taking photos at palms' barks, blooming branches, reflections over the water by night. They were four so nice days. I'm indeed happy with my digital camera, I managed to get a little number of photos really good.

Besides, it was about two months I wasn't aching because of the damned slipped disc, I was almost forgetting the pain I have been feeling from the past December.
It seems I was wrong to think it was under control. I don't know what I did, what move or strain I made, but this morning I was totally stiff, and aching, and sad.
I'm feeling so old. I can't ever take a few hours walk, what am I deluding myself for? How can I think of myself like I was twenty years ago?

Doctors are quite useless. They think all is under control if I take a few cortisone's pills, and I don't go walking around, don't go to the gym, don't lift weights. Practically speaking if I behave like a good little old lady.
What they don't understand (or maybe they do understand but it's not important in order to keep me healthy) is that I'm not feeling like myself. My body betrayed me, and I can't accept it... yet.
I'm not SO old.
I want to go to the concert of Placebo, and stand up and sing and dance and jump. I want to be with my friend, and not having to worry about how much I walk, or stand.
I'm not so old.
